Damp Proofing Services

Damp Proofing

Lots of common defects in buildings can result in internal dampness, including:

  • Poor or defective mortar courses in external walls
  • Defective sealant around windows and doors
  • Poorly maintained wooden windows and doors
  • Cracked or defective stone window sills
  • Breakdown of the buildings original damp course

The method of installing the damp proof course is by drilling the masonry at the base of the wall and injecting a specially formulated solution of siliconate injection fluid or DPC cream, which will form a new damp course to the property. Where the plaster inside is affected this will have to removed back to the brickwork, and in most cases be replasted using a sand a cement based waterproof system.

Tanking Systems

Tanking Systems

Tanking sytems are mostly used in basements and underground structures.

we use numerous systems ie;sand and cement with high grade waterproofers incorperating a specialist cement based slurry coat to brickwork.

A specially designed membrane system is used and in severe cases may mean incorperating a sump pump to disperse the water away from the affected areas.

Each property is different so which system we use will have to be ascertained on site.

Dry and Wet Rot Services

Dry Rot/Wet rot

Dry rot is the term given to brown rot decay caused by certain fungi that deteriorate timber in buildings and other wooden constructions seemingly without an apparent source of moisture. The term is a misnomer because all wood decaying fungi need a minimum amount of moisture before decay begins.

A common view of dry rot within a building is that it is an extremely serious infestation, hard to remove and requiring immediate action. The traditional approach to treatment, practiced by most remedial timber treatment and damp proofing companies, specifies the stripping out of building fabric beyond the visible extent of the infestation and the use of fungicide.
